🎧You gotta keep ya head up🎧

I think we can all agree that this presidential election has been the epitome of an emotional train wreck.

If you’ve read my previous post, you’d know that I’m a Clinton supporter. My entire family is. The night of the final results was a devastating blow, but it didn’t hit me just how divided America truly is until the hate crimes started to occur.

It’s one thing to not understand others that are different from you, whether physically or in beliefs, but to assault others and threaten their lives is uncalled for. There are incidents that have taken place across the United States. Incidents that have included the desecration of religious monuments, assaults on Muslim women, threats against Hispanics from their own coworkers, and countless others.

I have never been so terrified of being a female Asian immigrant in my entire life. I never thought of it as something that could possibly put myself in jeopardy. I had never seen myself as different. Until now.

But I refuse to let that affect me negatively.

Being different is good. And I hope anyone who is currently feeling the same fears and facing the same uncertainties as I do, will not be ashamed or afraid to live their lives fearlessly despite the perils that may lie ahead.

Fight.
img_9366
Stand strong. Stay strong.

It’s not the results that upset me the most, but how this country keeps repeating the same old pattern.

One step forward, two steps back.

America elected its first African American president in 2009.

Seven years later this same country decided to have a white supremacist as its president, who also happens to be racist and sexist.

It’s discouraging.

Gandhi once said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

I plan to do just that.

Everyday to the best of my ability, no matter what may come.

Will you?

Normally I wouldn’t give a crap about politics.

But ever since I’ve taken the Government AP class in school I’ve actually not only understood, but somewhat interested too.

If it wasn’t made clear with the title, I’m putting my support behind Secretary Clinton.

I’m not going to smack down any Trump supporters or the candidate himself. I usually try to understand where the opposite side is coming from and not judge them for their beliefs. However, I just cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would cast their vote to someone who loves war.

It’s just plain dangerous.

There are a lot of people that claim Secretary Clinton’s only shining point is that she’s the first woman in history to run for president.

Honestly, that’s bull.

She’s gotten this far because she advocates equality for all. From women to minorities to veterans. And in all honesty, it’s one thing to be rude and racist, but when Trump disrespected the sacrifices made by war heroes and multiple women came forward making sexual assault allegations against him, I mean really???

Blue skies ahead. Hopefully.

We need a leader who believes every human being should be treated with respect. A leader who isn’t in love with the idea of war. Someone who has a good temperament.

A leader that believes that I, a female Asian immigrant, is worthy of the pursuit of happiness.

And if all those attributes makes Secretary Clinton a “nasty” woman, then somebody better look up that word in a dictionary ’cause it doesn’t match up with who she is and what she stands for.

dsc_0312
Hang in there.
dsc_0332
Go forth with no fear.

But no matter which candidate you side with, VOTE!

It’s one thing to dislike the final verdict, it’s another to dislike it as well as not casting your vote which could’ve have made the difference.

Project Sister Act, created by Sheela Writes, is a collaboration amongst bloggers to prove that style is ageless.

This month our theme is Avant Garde.

When October was on the rise I thought it would be really cool for our theme to be something extravagant and out of the box in the spirit of Halloween without being too literal. So I begged Momma Bear a.k.a. Sheela Writes to make her theme just that. And she came up with Avant Garde!

I have to admit that this was not the original outfit I was planning to display this month.

My initial outfit was all white and the top had a pocket with graphic words on it. But as much as I love it, I saw it more as a cool outfit and not so much as Avant Garde.

So I decided to try something else and went for an all black ensemble. And I decided to put on some lipstick to add an extra umph!

I never thought I’d be friends with the Homecoming Queen 😉

This is the last edition of a three-part collaboration with Jodie’s Touch of Style and Sheela Writes. The idea was to showcase various ways of dressing with ankle boots. Also, though unintentional, it is a collaboration amongst mothers and daughters ❤️

The last of the series is to pair the ankle boots with either a dress or a skirt.

Another Princess Disney Moment

Oh, hey there!

Project Sister Act, created by Sheela Writes, is a collaboration amongst bloggers to prove that style is ageless.

This month our theme is Maxi Dress.

And I must say, the outfits put together this week are my favorites out of the entire archive of Project Sister Act.

image
Super studious.

As we were about to leave for the shoot, my momma suggested that I grab some of my books and imitate my favorite Disney princess Belle.

I’m glad I did.

It gave me something to focus on while passerbys stared.

So I picked out the books that, in my opinion, had colors that went with those in my dress.

Alice in Wonderland was one of the first books I had ever read. I was so enthralled by how Lewis Carroll could invent such a detailed and kooky world.

Persuasion is one of my favorite novels. I remember being so into the story that I would have a heart attack whenever Anne and Captain Wentworth had an awkward encounter or fight. Like, for real, just get back together!

The Great Gatsby, otherwise known as The Tale of a Third-Wheeler, was one of the books I had to read in my AP English III class. Gatsby, can’t you see that you’re the sidehoe???

Hey Monday! You came back so quickly…
image
🎧Take me away. A secret place. A sweet escape.🎧

This weekend ended way too soon.

I barely had a weekend with all the stuff that I’ve had to do.

I took the ACT on Saturday, which took up more than half the day, then came back home and passed out until dinnertime.

And then on Sunday I spent the majority of it doing a lab report for my Biology class and writing an essay for Psychology.

image
It’s Monday. 🎧 I’m on a highway to hell!🎧

I woke at around 10am yesterday and went straight to work on the lab report. I had to type it up, create eight data tables, answer questions, write two hypotheses, calculate the allele frequencies (yes, that’s science terminolgy), answer some more questions, and then finally, FINALLY, I turned it in online at 8pm.

I didn’t eat at all except at dinner.

Granted I wasn’t hungry but its just to give you an idea of how much work the assignment was.

After that I completed my essay for my Psychology class, which was not that bad compared to what I had to do for Biology, which I just finished about half an hour (it is now 11:30pm).

I did not get as much work done as I had hoped to this weekend (yes there was more) but hey, that’s why my school gave us an hour for lunch.

It doesn’t take me long to eat anyway.

image
Hey there!

Now I have to both intellectually and mentally prepare myself for a Calculus quiz.

Yay.

image
I can do this.
