Project Sister Act Commences – Leather and White

image (13)

This is the first edition of the Sister Act Project! Five women of different ages unite to showcase various and fabulous styles, proving that style knows no age boundary. It’s incredible how one theme can be interpreted in a million different artistic expressions. Every person has a distinct point of view that is original and inspiring.

I’m wearing a Zara white mirror floral print top, paired with a striking Forever 21 red leather jacket. With a blue and white undershirt from my mum’s stash, I’ve also got on my super comfy studded leggings that are C’est Moi. I’m rocking my white lace sneaker wedges from Wild Diva Lounge with bright orange socks to match! For jewelry I chose to wear a mix media necklace, which is also Forever 21, a FORWARD ring in support of the breast cancer society, and a gorgeous black enamel cuff that I bought from Shasa.

Lady of Style - Leather White Project

Pretty cool, huh? 🙂

As you can see, the theme was Leather and White.

I can’t wait for the next one. It was a lot of fun and really awesome to see how everyone interpreted the theme in their own way.

Where Are You Christmas?

image (3)

image (4)

Christmas is my favorite holiday. The feeling of merriment, the stockings filled with goodies, and the decorations that can turn your house into a scene from a fairy tale always gave me goosebumps. But this year it seemed quite, um, delayed. It feels as if Christmas hasn’t arrived yet. Which is weird since today is January 3rd.

How the Grinch Stole is Christmas is my most favorite holiday movie ever. I know, I know, that’s really random but I promise there is a point to this. In the film, Cindy Lou Who sang a song lamenting her feelings of an uninspired Christmas. When I was younger I could never understand what she meant, or what the story was trying to convey. As a child Christmastime is practically paradise. The food, the presents, it’s like a dream come true. But as I’ve grown older ( yes, I know I’m only a teenager ), I’ve started to loose that special feeling. Yes, there is a special feeling that goes with Christmas. It’s corny, but true. On Christmas you feel like the world has suddenly stopped. As if it decided to live in the moment and rejoice being with loved ones. To take a break from all of the worries one would have about life. And though I still believe in that feeling, this year just didn’t feel right. I think part of it is because I’m both mentally and physically exhausted from my attempts at surviving school, and figuring out what I want my future to look like.

I asked one of my closest friends how her holiday was to see if I was the only one. She said she didn’t know how to describe it but it most definitely hadn’t felt like Christmas. My mum said that it didn’t feel right either and that we should try to appreciate Christmas better. Is that why? The exaggerated emphasis on gifts and decorations instead of the true meaning of Christmas? Or perhaps, as I think while I write, or type, maybe it’s a combination. The rush to get things done, the forgotten meaning and the stresses of the year could all be why Christmas didn’t feel like Christmas.

I don’t know if the rest of the world feels the same way. Maybe to some people gifts and decorations are what make the holidays for them. Or others who simply don’t have time for Christmas at all. All I know is that I still love Christmas. And though I couldn’t seem to find it, I’m going to make sure I treasure it and not forget it like I had this year. Last year. I keep forgetting it’s 2015.

My world is changing

I’m rearranging

Does that mean Christmas changes too?

My First Runway Show

FH5

Fashion Houston 5 is the very first runway show I’ve ever attended! It was exciting, fun, and fabulous. And yes, it has been some time since the show, but school is quite a distraction so yeah, this post is a bit old. However, better late than never! And yes yes, I’ll try to be better at keeping up with my posts.

We be fancy

There was a red carpet with super fancy cars on each side along withtons of bloggers and photographers. When I walked down the red carpet beside my mum with Ariana Grande’s “Break Free” in the background, I felt both out of place and fancy all at the same time. My mum and I even unknowingly got ourselves featured in the Houston Chronicle!

There were even a few bloggers who took photographs of my fabulous shoes! I was both confuzzled and flattered. We then went inside to see the show, but it was delayed an hour and a half because a lot of people
were stuck in traffic. Originally my mum and I were to stand and watch the show from the back, which made the show’s delay even more agonizing. But when we were a couple of minutes into the show there was still a
lot of vacant seats, so one of the workers at the runway brought my mum and I to the sixth row! We were
incredibly lucky and were actually able to see the collections!

INCLAN
The show kicked off with mini collections from upcoming designers currently enrolled in the Art Institute of Houston. One I enjoyed thoroughly was the kick-ass nature of INCLÁN. The first model strutted down the runway with an awesome dance track in the background. Her ponytail was bouncing and her make-up was nicely done. She was absolutely fierce! The show at first started off quite dull, not because the preceding collections were bad but they were not very fun or upbeat. When the INCLÁN collection walked down the runway though, it gave the show a shake and rejuvenated the crowd after the show’s long delay.

INCLAN signNaeem Khan, in my opinion, stole the show. He created amazing pieces that took people’s breaths away and was rightfully awarded a standing ovation.

Runway 065
Green Jumpsuit

My absolute favorite piece of the ENTIRE runway show was Naeem Khan’s emerald green jumpsuit. It was sassy, unique, stunning and breathtaking! When she walked down the runway, the entire audience gasped and gave a round of applause. This piece was one of the highlights of the night. Khan was smart on his choice of styling, accompanying the jumpsuit with simple neutral shoes and a long golden necklace. The necklace was perfectly placed onto the v-neck of the jumpsuit, allowing the necklace itself to have its moment in the sun without interfering with the jumpsuit’s glam.

Overall, despite the fact that it was a school night, that there was an hour and a half delay so I was both
exhausted and starved and freakin’ cold, it was actually quite fun. I can’t wait to attend another runway show. But this time, I’ll bring flats.

Can’t Touch This

I love that jacket.  It’s Jersey with Striped Chiffon Sleeves.

I can’t remember their labels though.

And my Distressed Metallic Gold Sneaker Wedges are from JustFAB.

And my hair’s done up like Savannah Chrisley 😀

Peace out.

Another Quick Outfit Post

I promise to try and do this a lot more regularly! 😀

I am wearing a Red Leather Zara Jacket (“borrowed from my mom) with an awesome ribcage + heart tee shirt.

Keeping up with the rock and roll feel, I paired these with B&W leggings (they remind of a forest scene) together with what my friend calls my witch boots which are Black with Blood Red Laces.

I’ve kept to the same color palette with my accessories and stacked together Cuff Bracelets in Black and Red Snakeskin (thanks, momma!) together with a Studded White Cuff from Shasa.

For a touch of bling, I’m wearing my Chanel Rhinestone Earrings.

Later!

The Many Faces Of Me

At school we had a themed dress up week that was different everyday.

Harajuku Eve

Gold Duchess Satin making me feel all girly and glam.
Channeling my inner Coco with Gold Duchess Satin.
My version of Sporty Spice.

I like playing dress up.

Note to self – take outfit photos somewhere else.  Those Ozarka water bottles are getting old.

Quick Outfit Post

I know I know, I need to work a little harder and do these posts as they happen.

Still trying to get into the groove of 8th Grade and juggling everything together is challenging, but I’m getting there..hopefully.

Here I am wearing the most adorable frock ever from Japan.

It’s in a shade of Nude/Beige with Black Kitties and Blue Fish.

Meow.

Then there’s that Leather Jacket from Zara.

Love it.

I accessorized with a Bollywood Blue Cuff which has really cool Metallic Gold undertones, a beaded Faux Pearl Bow Necklace, a button bade featuring a print of Black Lips (this was a gift from Project Runway All Star Winner Mondo Guerra), a Brown Alligator Double Wrapped Cuff (I love being able to “borrow” stuff from my momma), and super funky doodle Dark Brown Slouchy Boots.

These are terrific, they’ve got buckles and a braided trim which echoes the Katniss braid I had going that day.

Until next time!
