Project Sister Act, created by Sheela Writes, is a collaboration amongst bloggers to prove that style is ageless.

This month our theme is Avant Garde.

When October was on the rise I thought it would be really cool for our theme to be something extravagant and out of the box in the spirit of Halloween without being too literal. So I begged Momma Bear a.k.a. Sheela Writes to make her theme just that. And she came up with Avant Garde!

Tank and pants are gymwear.

I have to admit that this was not the original outfit I was planning to display this month.

My initial outfit was all white and the top had a pocket with graphic words on it. But as much as I love it, I saw it more as a cool outfit and not so much as Avant Garde.

So I decided to try something else and went for an all black ensemble. And I decided to put on some lipstick to add an extra umph!

This is the last edition of a three-part collaboration with Jodie’s Touch of Style and Sheela Writes. The idea was to showcase various ways of dressing with ankle boots. Also, though unintentional, it is a collaboration amongst mothers and daughters ❤️

The last of the series is to pair the ankle boots with either a dress or a skirt.

Another Princess Disney Moment

image
Oh, hey there!

Project Sister Act, created by Sheela Writes, is a collaboration amongst bloggers to prove that style is ageless.

This month our theme is Maxi Dress.

And I must say, the outfits put together this week are my favorites out of the entire archive of Project Sister Act.

image
Super studious.

As we were about to leave for the shoot, my momma suggested that I grab some of my books and imitate my favorite Disney princess Belle.

I’m glad I did.

It gave me something to focus on while passerbys stared.

So I picked out the books that, in my opinion, had colors that went with those in my dress.

Alice in Wonderland was one of the first books I had ever read. I was so enthralled by how Lewis Carroll could invent such a detailed and kooky world.

Persuasion is one of my favorite novels. I remember being so into the story that I would have a heart attack whenever Anne and Captain Wentworth had an awkward encounter or fight. Like, for real, just get back together!

The Great Gatsby, otherwise known as The Tale of a Third-Wheeler, was one of the books I had to read in my AP English III class. Gatsby, can’t you see that you’re the sidehoe???

My First Ettika Experience

image
Oh Friday! I’ve missed you.

image

This is my first, and hopefully not last, collaboration to work with Ettika.

It’s an online jewelry store perfect for the bohemian girl with a bit of an edge, based in one of my favorite places ever – Cali.

image

I’ve recently become into chokers and other types of necklaces, so when the opportunity to wear one of Ettika’s presented itself I was more than happy to oblige.

The Ettika necklace is called Still Surprise You.

It’s a turquoise beaded choker with gold spacers that can be worn either as a necklace or as a bracelet.

I’m very much in love with the necklace because it’s so pretty and yet so simple.

But if you’re someone who’s not into necklaces or chokers, then check out the other items Ettika has. Like rings, bracelets, earrings, and body jewelry.

I myself have been eyeing the Heavy Dreamer Choker, the Lush Bow Choker, the Grand Ballroom Necklace, the Goodnight Moon Choker, the Pinky Swear Bracelet, and the Midnight Adventure Bolo Choker.

Yes, I know, that’s a lot.

But hey, a girl can dream.

image
Just chillin’.

A huge thank you to Ettika for allowing me to wear their necklace!

Check out their website for awesome jewelry that you can wear anytime, in multiple ways.

Won’t Choke Under Pressure

image
Ain’t no wifey.

This is a collaboration called All Choked Up between four bloggers, including myself, showcasing our take on chokers combined with our divergent styles.

Chokers have been a very popular trend lately, but I’ve only started wearing them recently after I got a coupon for Hot Topic.

Now I have like three.

Or four.

I can’t remember.

image
Choker from Free People and tee is Dimepiece LA via Poshmark.

Now there’s something I want to get off my chest, but first, let me set the scene and give you some background information.

There are so many students enrolled at my school that there are four shacks across the street for some of the Government, Economic, and World History classes. Right next to them is a field house for the football teams. The school funded a bridge for students to cross over to the other side for safety precautions.

Last week the air conditioning in my Government AP class, which was already quite shitty, decided to completely stop functioning. As a result, my class was relocated to a room in the field house while the school orders a new one.

Now, you’re probably wondering why this is important.

Let me tell you.

image
Camouflage top from Zara.

When we entered the field house, we were surrounded by freshly painted lockers in vibrant red. It’s literally the size of three classrooms combined into one. We were then led to a staircase into a conference room. It had two long tables, walls that were in fact white boards, and an interactive whiteboard at the front of the room.

Towards the other end is a folding door that reaches all four corners of the room. When you open it, it’s another huge conference room with a door that leads to another staircase which is an exit.

Now that’s all well and good, but here’s the point I’m trying to make.

The school has money to revamp the field house, but they can’t give me some freakin’ air conditioning in a teeny shack that’s not even a third of the field house?!?!?

Or better yet, have those four shacks be on campus? I mean, there are four other ones at the very back of the school near one of the science wings. And to add insult to injury, they’re right next to the trash and recycle bins.

I don’t mean to be ungrateful but it’s just so odd how one of the four core subjects, Social Studies, has been given small huts that are either across the street or near our trash. Especially since it’s evident that there’s money for an elective like sports.

image
Jeans are Seven7. Shades from Poshmark.

Okay, in all honesty I don’t care that much about it.

All I want is some aircon.

Especially with Houston’s humid weather. I, and I’m sure my classmates can agree, am not too keen on always showing up sweaty like a wet chihuahua.

That’s all.

Love how Carmen’s SWT has a cool graphic bow print.

I’m sorry that this post is so meager. It’s the first week of school and I’m sooo not used to being unable to have my two naps a day.

I am, however, incredibly glad that I opted to have late arrival as a part of my schedule. Waking up has not been as torturous as it had been the past six years.

On Monday in my AP Calculus AB class (yes, that’s what it’s called), we began reviewing the material we learned in Algebra II (which was two year ago) and Pre-Cal (three months ago). I had only been at school for twenty minutes, with extra sleep, and I already felt like giving up. Everyone one was like, “What the hell is that?” or “Oh God, domain and range!” or “I can’t even…” I mean, really, it was a struggle.

And today I have three quizzes!

The first week of school guys, the first week.

On Tuesday Seniors had an assembly and our grade principal put on display a clock. It was counting down the days, the hours, the minutes, and the seconds leading up to graduation.

At the time it stated that we had 277 days to go.

It is now Day 5.

It is only Day 5.

God, help me 🙏🏾

AP Bio got me like…

Wait, it’s only been a week of school?

Holding on for dear life as school continues.

Anyways, a huge thank you to every blogger that was part of August’s Project Sister Act 🙂

Make sure to check in next month to see what’s next!

You need to pay if you’re gonna stare.

I was given the opportunity to try out a pair of earrings from an online jewelry store called, Moonstone Magic, selected from the 2016 Collection.

image
Having a Narcissus moment.

The website immediately gives off a cool, bohemian vibe perfect for events like Coachella and for the modern hippies at heart.

image
Dress from an indie store. Choker from Hot Topic.

What I love about Moonstone Magic is that they give really cool product details that are interesting and actually go with the jewelry.

For mine they mentioned how the moonstone is revered in India and Middle Age Europe, and utilized by holy men around the globe to remove one’s ego.

image
What the hell are you looking at?

Nowadays I don’t wear as many earrings as I used to when I was younger, but when I do I prefer to wear studs. And when I saw these, I was immediately drawn to the cool metal work surrounding the moonstone and the iridescent light that the stone emanates.

Other products that I really love are the Eclipse Ring, the Vintage Mellow Earrings, the New Moon Bracelet, and the Apollo Earrings.
