My First Ettika Experience

image
Oh Friday! I’ve missed you.

image

This is my first, and hopefully not last, collaboration to work with Ettika.

It’s an online jewelry store perfect for the bohemian girl with a bit of an edge, based in one of my favorite places ever – Cali.

image

I’ve recently become into chokers and other types of necklaces, so when the opportunity to wear one of Ettika’s presented itself I was more than happy to oblige.

The Ettika necklace is called Still Surprise You.

It’s a turquoise beaded choker with gold spacers that can be worn either as a necklace or as a bracelet.

I’m very much in love with the necklace because it’s so pretty and yet so simple.

But if you’re someone who’s not into necklaces or chokers, then check out the other items Ettika has. Like rings, bracelets, earrings, and body jewelry.

I myself have been eyeing the Heavy Dreamer Choker, the Lush Bow Choker, the Grand Ballroom Necklace, the Goodnight Moon Choker, the Pinky Swear Bracelet, and the Midnight Adventure Bolo Choker.

Yes, I know, that’s a lot.

But hey, a girl can dream.

image
Just chillin’.

A huge thank you to Ettika for allowing me to wear their necklace!

Check out their website for awesome jewelry that you can wear anytime, in multiple ways.

Hey there.

How ya doin’?

So the Labor Day Weekend is over.

Too soon.

Way too soon.

My art teacher said her life would be so much better if three day weekends were the norm.

I agree.

This week’s schedule is pretty chill.

Thank God.

It’s a four day week, on Thursday we have a Rock ‘n’ Roll themed pep rally (which means shorter classes), and Friday will be here before I know it. And I only have one test this week in my Government class.

Praise the Lord 🙌🏾

My mind still can’t wrap around the fact that it’s my Senior year.

But then at the same time I’m in despair as I’m only in my third week of school.

When’s our next holiday? 🤔

image
See ya later!

Yes, I know it’s not a very inspiring post but I’ve got that Government test tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

I’m gonna need it.

Hey there!

Words cannot describe how happy I am that it’s the Labor Day Weekend. I could almost cry out of pure joy at the prospect of catching up on my sleep.

During the summer I took two naps a day.

Everyday for three months.

I mean, even the teachers are done.

My Biology and Psychology teachers kept thinking and saying that today was Friday. They were determined for the week to end. And my English teacher said on the first day of school that she was already exhausted.

Everybody is in need of a break.

image
It’s a three day weekend!!!

Oh, and for those of you that read my previous post, guess what?

The new air conditioner arrived!

So now our teeny Government AP shack is nice and cool.

I just need to get through today.

Which means one AP Calculus AB test (which, by the way, counts as 70% of our average), a mini essay assignment due next Tuesday for Gov., finishing up an art project (yes, we’ve already started and are expected to finish), need to get my IBN (Interactive Biology Notebook) ready and deal finish a lab we started yesterday, and pump myself up for a three minute presentation on Jane Eyre.

No biggy.

Won’t Choke Under Pressure

image
Ain’t no wifey.

This is a collaboration called All Choked Up between four bloggers, including myself, showcasing our take on chokers combined with our divergent styles.

Chokers have been a very popular trend lately, but I’ve only started wearing them recently after I got a coupon for Hot Topic.

Now I have like three.

Or four.

I can’t remember.

image
Choker from Free People and tee is Dimepiece LA via Poshmark.

Now there’s something I want to get off my chest, but first, let me set the scene and give you some background information.

There are so many students enrolled at my school that there are four shacks across the street for some of the Government, Economic, and World History classes. Right next to them is a field house for the football teams. The school funded a bridge for students to cross over to the other side for safety precautions.

Last week the air conditioning in my Government AP class, which was already quite shitty, decided to completely stop functioning. As a result, my class was relocated to a room in the field house while the school orders a new one.

Now, you’re probably wondering why this is important.

Let me tell you.

image
Camouflage top from Zara.

When we entered the field house, we were surrounded by freshly painted lockers in vibrant red. It’s literally the size of three classrooms combined into one. We were then led to a staircase into a conference room. It had two long tables, walls that were in fact white boards, and an interactive whiteboard at the front of the room.

Towards the other end is a folding door that reaches all four corners of the room. When you open it, it’s another huge conference room with a door that leads to another staircase which is an exit.

Now that’s all well and good, but here’s the point I’m trying to make.

The school has money to revamp the field house, but they can’t give me some freakin’ air conditioning in a teeny shack that’s not even a third of the field house?!?!?

Or better yet, have those four shacks be on campus? I mean, there are four other ones at the very back of the school near one of the science wings. And to add insult to injury, they’re right next to the trash and recycle bins.

I don’t mean to be ungrateful but it’s just so odd how one of the four core subjects, Social Studies, has been given small huts that are either across the street or near our trash. Especially since it’s evident that there’s money for an elective like sports.

Okay, in all honesty I don’t care that much about it.

All I want is some aircon.

Especially with Houston’s humid weather. I, and I’m sure my classmates can agree, am not too keen on always showing up sweaty like a wet chihuahua.

That’s all.

I’m sorry that this post is so meager. It’s the first week of school and I’m sooo not used to being unable to have my two naps a day.

I am, however, incredibly glad that I opted to have late arrival as a part of my schedule. Waking up has not been as torturous as it had been the past six years.

On Monday in my AP Calculus AB class (yes, that’s what it’s called), we began reviewing the material we learned in Algebra II (which was two year ago) and Pre-Cal (three months ago). I had only been at school for twenty minutes, with extra sleep, and I already felt like giving up. Everyone one was like, “What the hell is that?” or “Oh God, domain and range!” or “I can’t even…” I mean, really, it was a struggle.

And today I have three quizzes!

The first week of school guys, the first week.

On Tuesday Seniors had an assembly and our grade principal put on display a clock. It was counting down the days, the hours, the minutes, and the seconds leading up to graduation.

At the time it stated that we had 277 days to go.

It is now Day 5.

It is only Day 5.

God, help me 🙏🏾

AP Bio got me like…

Wait, it’s only been a week of school?

Holding on for dear life as school continues.

Anyways, a huge thank you to every blogger that was part of August’s Project Sister Act 🙂

Make sure to check in next month to see what’s next!

You need to pay if you’re gonna stare.

I was given the opportunity to try out a pair of earrings from an online jewelry store called, Moonstone Magic, selected from the 2016 Collection.

image
Having a Narcissus moment.

The website immediately gives off a cool, bohemian vibe perfect for events like Coachella and for the modern hippies at heart.

image
Dress from an indie store. Choker from Hot Topic.

What I love about Moonstone Magic is that they give really cool product details that are interesting and actually go with the jewelry.

For mine they mentioned how the moonstone is revered in India and Middle Age Europe, and utilized by holy men around the globe to remove one’s ego.

image
What the hell are you looking at?

Nowadays I don’t wear as many earrings as I used to when I was younger, but when I do I prefer to wear studs. And when I saw these, I was immediately drawn to the cool metal work surrounding the moonstone and the iridescent light that the stone emanates.

Other products that I really love are the Eclipse Ring, the Vintage Mellow Earrings, the New Moon Bracelet, and the Apollo Earrings.

I’m Sorry, But I Have to Go ~Sincerely, Summer

image
Summer is officially over. I am in mourning.

School’s back.

If you wish to cry, do so now.

After that, get your shit together.

It’s going to be a long school year.

Senior year.

image
Lip balm from Clarins.

image

Even though I am sad that summer vacation is over, I’m excited to see what’ll transpire this year.

For one thing, I’m actually taking classes I’m interested in. Such as Psychology, Biology, and Literature.

Plus I have first period off, so no more having to wake up at 6 in the morning. My momma was so happy she cried.

Then there’s also the fact that it’s my last year of high school, which is somewhat bittersweet. On one hand I’m more than ready to say goodbye to my school. And to certain people that make me want to tear out my hair with their stupidity. And carelessness. Which, to this day, baffles me. I mean, really!?!? The teacher explained it like two seconds ago!

image
Choker from Hot Topic. Top from Forever 21.

image
Trying not to fall. And look cool. Multitasking.

But then on the flip side I have to get my college applications done. And write my essays. And take the SAT and ACT one last time. And prepare for seven AP exams. While also trying to survive high school in general.

And to top it off, I’m getting old!

And it’s not just me who says it. My momma has, my friends have, a sophomore has, and even an eighth grader! I mean, I know I’m old but do you have to blurt it out like that? And with such gusto?

Bag from Free People. Ankle booties from Amiclubwear.

Despite some of my reservations, however, I’m determined to have a good school year. To at least have much more fun than I have the past couple of years.

All the studying, the worrying, the test taking I’ve done have led up to this year. The year wherein all that work pays off in some shape or form, and I can let loose and relish in that celebratory feeling.
