Last Teen

It’s official.

It’s my last year being a teenager.

Do I feel any different?

Do I still forget my age when people ask?

Yup. In fact, many just ask if I’m fifteen.

Necklace is the Eclipse Goddess Choker from Ettika.
Give ’em the cold shoulder.

There’s still a large part of me that hasn’t accepted that I attended high school, let alone graduated and made it to university.

I mean, when I was fourteen/fifteen, I’d say “ten” when people asked me how old I was. And now that I’m nineteen, I feel as though I’m seventeen/eighteen. Maybe feeling younger than I actually am is a good thing?

Ring was a gift from momma. Lips is Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector (Hot Pink).

Momma Bear treated me to lunch at a Japanese restaurant that we love eating at.

We then spent the afternoon at the mall being silly, looking at stuff in the store Typo, running away from the rain, and listening to Selena Gomez’s Back to You.

After a big, fat nap, the day ended with dinner out at Malaysian restaurant Satay. They have the best soya bean and roti canai (prata). I always get those things, along with their nasi lemak. I was practically in Heaven.

You see, I love spending my birthdays with my momma and then celebrating with my squad later on.

The majority of my high school girlfriends were invited to my house for a birthday potluck. There was pasta, chicken, pizza, chocolate chip cookies, upside down strawberry cake, bruschetta, sushi, orange juice, and God knows what else.

Pretty sure we were all about to explode.

It’s always great to be around my high school squad. I never thought I’d miss hanging out with those crazy Asians so much 🙂

Having my Little Mermaid moment.
Dress found at Goodwill. It was the dress I would’ve worn to the Spring Formal.

I’d like to thank everyone who wished me “Happy Birthday” and gave me endless love on the day I was born.

Celebration Month

The middle of May until the middle of June is always a crazy time for myself and my family. There’s Mother’s Day, my birthday (23rd), my stepbrother’s birthday (24th), my momma’s birthday (27th), which is also my parents’ anniversary, my stepfather’s birthday (1st), my other stepbrother’s birthday (7th), and then Father’s Day.

The amount of gifts bought and given during this time is greater than any Christmas holiday we’ve had. My mother always refers to this time as the time to “go bankrupt.”

Top is Elle.
Jogger pants from Zara.

Mother’s Day was spent watching The Avengers: Infinity War, per Her Royal Divaness’ request, and going out to eat at one of the three Malaysian restaurants in the area.

I’m going to talk about my birthday in another post 😉

Momma’s birthday was spent also watching a movie, but this time Solo: A Star Wars Story. Did we end up eating at the same restaurant? Yes, yes we did and with no regrets.

Oh, and is it at all a coincidence that her birthday is the same day as my parents’ anniversary? Definitely not. It’s most definitely a ploy to get more presents and freebies.

Lipstick is Estée Lauder’s Pure Envy Color: Uninhibited. Earrings from Hot Topic.
Bracelet was a gift from Momma Bear.

Heels are Audrey Brooke.

Sidenote: The heels above are my first pair ever. I wore it out to dinner for Mother’s Day and Momma Bear was shook. She then proceeded to almost cry because she took it as a sign of my growing up. Oh momma.

Pondering about my age.

Father’s Day was originally supposed to be a trip to the museum to see European art. Someone (namely my stepfather), however, somehow did something to hurt his back from stretching at the gym.

How? No idea.

So we instead to spend the day watching Once Upon A Time (love that show), while eating a ton of pancakes and hashbrowns.

Nothing but smiles.

It has been a crazy but awesome time lately, filled with celebrating, movie watching, eating food, and taking Polaroids.

I hope all of my fellow Geminis had amazing birthdays! As well as all the mothers and fathers out there 🙂

My Inner Child

Yes, I am seventeen.

And I’m proud to proclaim my love for swings!

Swings are the best.

I haven’t been on a swing since…..

I don’t even remember.

It’s a (mostly) safe way to fulfill one’s adrenaline rush and definitely gets the blood pumping. Even though part of you wants to swing as high as possible, the other is terrified at the idea of being so high above the ground.

One of my favorite shots.

When the squad (Sheela, my momma, Sofia, our photographer, Luisa, our videographer, and I) arrived at the Hershey Park, the first thing we saw was a playground.

Of course, being the adults that we are, made a beeline for the colorful playing field.

It was so much fun pretending, even if only for a few moments, to not have a care in the world and go back to how I was as a little girl.

Dress is House of Harlow.
Rings from Poshmark. Cuff is Loewe.
Shoes are Rotelli.

This was (in my opinion) the most playful and fun photoshoot we’ve had so far.

I mean, who wouldn’t light up at the thought of having a playground all to themselves?

Yes, I’m seventeen. What’s your point?

May Mayhem

So now I’m officially seventeen.

I don’t feel any difference though.

But it’s probably ’cause it hasn’t hit me yet.

So natural.

If you’re wondering why the title is what it is, it’s because the majority of my family’s birthdays is during this month.

I’m 23rd, my stepbrother is 24th, my momma is 27th, my stepfather is the 1st of June (I know May and June are two separate months but June didn’t go well in my title) and my other stepbrother is the 7th.

Yeah, I know.

May and June leave us bankrupt from all the presents and birthday dinners.

Jewelry are Kate Spade. Shades from Poshmark. Dress is H&M via Poshmark.
Shoes are Jeffrey Campbell.

A week before my birthday, my mother asked what I wanted. I told her that I would like a chocolate cake and food from Pronto Cuccinino (it sounds fancy but it really isn’t). A few days later, she said we would go out for lunch on Sunday (since the 23rd is on a Monday) to a new place that has similar food. I’ll be honest, I was both confused and sad, because I wouldn’t get what I originally asked for. But I found solace in the fact that the restaurant had things I liked.

So Sunday comes and everyone is getting ready to go. My mother tells me that the reservation is at noon. But, of course, we’re late. I’m checking the time as we’re driving there and it’s past noon. I’m wondering why my mother isn’t freaking out because she usually does. Plus I’m starved, so I’m desperate to get to the restaurant as quickly as possible.

Finally we arrive and I’m wondering where my stepbrothers are (they left before us) since their car is right in front of the place. Honestly, my first thought was “Oh hell no, the table better not be at the back of the restaurant ’cause I got my fancy shoes on!”

One of the waiters came by and asked if we were part of the group that had already arrived. I, fully believing that he meant the boys, didn’t think too much about it. But then he led us to a private room nearby. The first face I saw was my friend, Grace, and thought “Oh look! It’s Grace. LOL What a coincidence.” Then, all of a sudden, I hear “Surprise!”

My first instinct was to go to my momma who was behind me. I’m thinking “What the hell is happening?” Then I finally realized that it was my friends, and they were joining my family and I for lunch.

I really didn’t expect it.

It was a nice surprise 🙂

17 but still feeling 12.

A huge thank you to my family and friends who organized the surprise birthday lunch!

And a special shoutout to RJ and Ashpower who were my mother’s minions during this whole thing 🙂

Peace out!
