Project Sister Act, created by Sheela Writes, is a collaboration amongst bloggers to prove that style is ageless.
This month our theme is RED.
I rented this dress for my stepbrother’s girlfriend’s Debutante Ball. My mother and I had never attended something so formal, so we figured that we’d have to bring out the big gun: Rent the Runway.
One of the most awesome places ever!
This dress made me feel like such a princess!
I had never worn a gown up to that point so initially I was trotting around in those heels (which hurt like hell at the end of the night) and pulling up that skirt like I was walking in mud. It was a bit of a struggle.
But once I got the hang of it, I started twirling and swishing and whatever else it is you do in long dresses that put a huge smile on my face.
I admit that letting the dress go was both physically and emotionally painful, but that dress was way too expensive for this high schooler’s wallet. Not to also mention that the probability of having an event to wear it to was low. Actually, nonexistent.
This goes to show that what you wear has an impact on how you feel and how you behave.
When I was at the ball my posture was on point throughout the night, I placed my hands gently on top of my lap when seated, and crossed my legs the Princess Diaries way (if you don’t know what I’m talking about then go watch that film, it’s the best). The dress made me feel beautiful, confident, and graceful.
It’s important to wear what makes you feel those things.
When you do, you feel like you can conquer the world.
